Caring for Your Art As we endure the hot and humid days of summer, we may often forget that our paintings and art on paper, whether on display or in storage, need a little TLC. Thick, humid air can produce moisture that may alter the look and the quality of original paintings. The American Insitute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works has provided on their website great tips on how to care and store for original paintings. Click here for more information about caring for paintings and here for more information about caring for art on paper.
Charlie Jones, Jr. Charlie has been working with Authentic Art for awhile and one of our first artists that we signed. We interviewed Charlie awhile back but thought it be fun to interview him again. Here's Charlie in his own words...Authentic Art's Artist for July: Where are you originally from and how long have you been an artist? I am originally from Youngstown, Ohio. I have been in the Maryland/DC area for the past eight years. I have been an artist for as long as I can remember. I always enjoyed art classes and sketch time What inspires you in creating your art? The majority of the time I like to sit down without any predisposed inspired theme. That way the art takes shape from my creative thought at that moment. If I do have a theme in mind for a new piece of artwork then I like to use various types of music to get me in the right frame of mind. Read more here. Image: Ascending Tears by Charlies Jones, Jr.
Call for Art: RED The Art with Joe Series in conjunction with Authentic Art Consulting and The ThickArt Collaborative presents RED. "RED" is an visual art exhibition about the continued fight against HIV/AIDS. The title RED was chosen to celebrate the familar color that represents the message that much remains to be done in helping those affected with HIV/AIDS and to prevent the spread of HIV. We have seen many medical breakthroughs and people affected with AIDS are now living longer, healthier lives. However, many are still facing on-going illness, and infection rates are continuing to rise in the United States and across the world. With no cure or vaccination on the horizon, we are likely to be fighting this epidemic for years to come.
